Is the glaze on the bone China cup harmful to health

Bone China is recognized as the most high-grade porcelain in the world. According to international standards, bone China contains more than 25% of the ashes of herbivores. It is an environmentally friendly green consumer product. Compared with ordinary ceramics, the exclusive firing process and the content of bone carbon make bone China appear more white, delicate, transparent and light. Ceramics originated in China, but bone China originated in the United Kingdom. It was the special porcelain of the British royal family for a long time. Even today, bone China cups are a symbol of identity and status. Bone China can be thinner than ordinary porcelain because the bone meal can increase the hardness and light transmittance of porcelain. Put the cup in a bright place for observation. Bone China products with fine composition, light transmission and no impurities are preferred. Bone China, like ceramics, is graded, usually depending on the material’s texture, manufacturing techniques and painting design. The higher the grade of bone China, the more difficult it is to make and the more expensive the finished product.

Bone China cups painted with colorful patterns may contaminate food. In an experiment, a variety of dinnerware was soaked in 4% acetic acid solution. Harmful chemicals such as lead, cadmium, arsenic, antimony and fluorine were detected in the acidic solution in the colorful bone China cups, while no harmful chemicals were detected in the white bone China cups. This is mainly because the color materials used to make colorful bone porcelain cups contain these harmful chemicals, which will dissolve out of acidic solutions and penetrate into the food contained in them, and then enter human tissues and organs, which will cause harm to human health.

Therefore, when choosing, it is best to choose white inner wall. More importantly, do not put acidic and potentially sour foods, especially those with high acidity, such as rice vinegar, fruit wine, sugar and sugar-stained foods into colored glazed bone China cups, preferably stored in glass bottles.
